Each day for a week leading up to the book fair, students brought in bags of loose change and raised $180 to purchase books for the family resource room at Maria Fareri Children’s Hospital in Valhalla.
Each book includes a “get well” bookmark created by OMS students. This is the second year the students have organized this donation.
This year’s book fair, organized by the school’s senior class (grades four-six), featured games, crafts and reading to engage the school’s junior classes (grades one-three), kindergarten and preschool students.
Kids wore costumes, played games and enjoyed story time. OMS families also made sure that classroom wish lists were fulfilled by purchasing books for teachers.
